Baiyun helps passenger transport firms back onto the road

Updated: 2020-02-26

In response to the novel coronavirus outbreak, the Baiyun Transportation Bureau has been moving to help passenger transport concerns get back onto the road safely and efficiently, according to officials from the district -- located in Guiyang in Southwest China’s Guizhou province.

They said the bureau is helping to buy virus protective materials for transport groups, in a bid to solve the shortage of medical supplies during the epidemic period.

The expenses are borne by each enterprise according to the actual purchase price.

Officials said the bureau had already sent companies 2,000 masks in advance to ensure the safe resumption of work.

In addition, the bureau is strengthening its supervision of bus and taxi companies, so they conduct epidemic prevention and disinfection of vehicles every day and keep daily disinfection records.

Officials said that after the resumption of work in Guiyang, around 700 operating vehicles had been disinfected.

Also, all transport companies are required to instruct drivers to wear masks and improve their emergency response times and overall capabilities.

In addition to official efforts, taxi companies are also helping each other and coordinating emergency materials including face masks to ensure that the daily epidemic prevention measures at work are in place.
