Baiyun district in Guiyang, the capital city of Guizhou province, is strengthening its commitment to the national goal of alleviating poverty through various projects.

Baiyun has distributed more than 42.3 million yuan ($6.34 million) to improve infrastructure and industrial development and guarantee that people's basic needs are met.

Thirty-nine projects are involved in industrial development, including an edible fungi industry chain project in Huaga township, Shuicheng county, and a farmers' market in Baiyunshan town, Changshun county. About 48,266 low-income households have benefited from these projects.

Baiyun has updated its employment information and provided more than 49,000 jobs and helped 562 people transfer their employment. Also, on-the-spot recruitment events and employment training sessions have been held multiple times.

Online and offline markets in Baiyun have proven to be a great platform to display local agricultural products. More than 20 types of products were sold through e-commerce platforms last year, resulting in more than 2,000 orders and more than 500,000 yuan in revenue.

When it comes to education, at least 10 exchange activities were held, and books and computers worth more than 200,000 yuan have been donated.

Poor and ill-conditioned health centers in Baiyun have seen considerable improvement in their conditions and operating ability thanks to support from a medical team from local hospitals. Free medical education is provided to healthcare workers employed at these centers.

Baiyun encourages local people from all walks of life to work together to advance the district's poverty alleviation work. At present, more than 1.4 million yuan has been donated by 30 local enterprises and government departments.
