Baiyun district in Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, will strive to advance a new type of urbanization this year by promoting urban renewal, increasing infrastructure construction and improving urban management, according to local media reports.
The district will demolish 800 family homes in shantytowns and provide new houses to affected people, with a transformation area of 112,000 square meters. Baiyun hopes to receive special funding for the renovation of old communities from the central government, and is encouraging social capital to participate in project construction.
This year, the district plans to renovate 464 old communities and support these communities to offer services such as childcare, elderly care and central heating. It will also accelerate the installation of elevators in old communities.
Baiyun will increase investment in infrastructure construction, promoting the development of public services and municipal infrastructure and improving the co-construction capacity and sharing level.
It will build five roads stretching 20 kilometers and upgrade infrastructure such as the power grid, natural gas facilities, the internet of things and high-speed optical fiber resources.
In terms of improving urban management, Baiyun district will improve the urban environment, ease traffic jams and promote the full coverage of garbage classification facilities, among others.
