Baiyun district in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has made great efforts to improve the quality of its education sector. According to local media reports, the district has increased investment in education, introduced high-quality resources and promoted smart education and culture-led development.
During the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), the district's education expenditure totaled 3.36 billion yuan ($527.52 million), with an average annual increase of 7.4 percent, accounting for 25.1 percent of the actual district-level total expenditure.
Also, the expenditure during the five years increased by 46.3 percent compared with that during the 12th Five-Year Plan period (2011-15).
During the past five years, 34 education projects were constructed and put into use, covering an area totaling 199,928 square meters. Also, Baiyun district added 434 classrooms and 17,079 public school spaces during the period.
In addition, the district introduced high-quality education resources to public schools, promoted the application of digital and smart education methods, and encouraged various cultural activities among students. The aim was to promote high-quality education development.
