The Guizhou Symposium on Technology Innovation and High Quality Development of Medical Devices was held in the Baiyun district of Guiyang – capital city of China's Southwest Guizhou province – on July 23.
The symposium was attended by around 40 representatives from drug supervision units at the district, municipal and provincial levels – as well as by representatives from medical colleges, companies and third-party testing institutions.
The symposium aimed to boost dialogue and cooperation between the governments, as well as industry, universities and research institutions in the medical devices industry. It also aimed to promote technological innovation and the high-quality development of medical devices in Guizhou province.
The event also targeted regulating the production, operation and use of medical devices in the province.
At the symposium, a senior official at the Guizhou Provincial Food and Drug Administration gave a talk on the newly promulgated Regulations on the Supervision and Administration of Medical Devices.
The talk focused on explaining the medical device registration approvals process and review points.
Other participants also put forward their opinions and provided suggestions for the development of the medical devices industry.
In recent years, in order to support the development and expansion of the medical device industry, Baiyun district has established a business incubation park.
This has been effective in promoting the rapid implementation of industries mainly based on medical device production and medical health testing and inspections.
The park is reportedly home to five medical device production and testing platform enterprises.
