Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – recently got the green light from the China National Intellectual Property Administration to establish a national intellectual property protection center there.

The intellectual property or IP center will be located in Guiyang's Baiyun district and its floor space will cover more than 3,000 square meters.

It will reportedly be the first of its kind in Guizhou and protect the intellectual property involved in the next-generation of information technology and high-end equipment manufacturing. Moreover, it will support Guiyang's development as a national demonstration city for big data and cyber security, as well as offer the general public one-stop intellectual property services.

When it opens for business, the center is expected to launch fast-track channels for patent examinations. Plans are for it to promote the development, commercialization and analysis of IP. It will also provide convenient, efficient and low-cost services for applying, protecting and managing IP.

The center is expected to cultivate high-value patents, accelerate the commercialization of patented technologies and provide high-quality services to help enterprises protect their intellectual property, improve brand values and to increase product quality.
