Baiyun district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, will test out new environmental improvement techniques in five villages in its jurisdiction in 2022.

The villages will be Jianpo village in Yanshanhong town, Qingshan village in Maijia town, Dianshan village in Shawen town, Lengshui village in Dula township and Penglai village in Niuchang township.

The experiments will involve housing, waste water, garbage, toilets and rural customs.

In 2022, Baiyun plans to improve the working mechanism of the rural house building approval system in the pilot villages, standardize the villagers' house building policy, and implement 1,050 rural house style renovations.

Meanwhile, 45 waste water treatment facilities in Baiyun will be built and maintained in the new year, and water supply facilities in Baiyun's pilot villages will be checked and upgraded.

In addition, Baiyun will ban 10 non-standard domestic garbage collection sites and improve the layout of garbage points.

By 2022, it strives to achieve a 35 percent recycling rate for domestic waste in the pilot villages and a 100 percent disposal rate for crop wastes.

Baiyun has also set goals to renovate toilets for 1,348 households by 2022, and achieve full coverage of harmless sanitary toilets in pilot villages and rural areas.
