The Baiyun district of Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, planted 45.63 million sticks of edible mushrooms in total in 2021.

The cultivation program is in line with Baiyun's strategy to promote the growth of the edible mushroom industry in a sustainable, rapid and healthy way.

Last year, a shiitake mushroom production base with an annual production capacity of 7 million sticks was established in Baiyun's Xiaoshan village, bringing the total number of edible mushroom plantations in Baiyun to 21.

Currently, Baiyun also has an edible mushroom industry demonstration park.

In addition to edible mushroom planting, Baiyun made great efforts to promote the processing of agricultural products in 2021.

It has introduced large-scale enterprises -- such as Wahaha Group and Guizhou Sifang Grain and Oil Co -- to develop processed food and non-edible processed products, in a bid to improve the added value of local agricultural products.

Additionally -- by leveraging the district's Penglai Fairland -- Baiyun has explored the integrated development of edible mushroom cultivation, processing, as well as mushroom-themed sightseeing, among other things.
