Prioritizing the standard of living and quality of life of its residents, Baiyun district – located in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province – is said to be making every effort to improve its public services and great results have been delivered.
To boost employment, Baiyun has provided essential services targeting college graduates, veterans and migrant workers.
Last year, Baiyun hired 12,245 new staff members in its urban areas, and 2,132 rural residents were employed in non-agricultural positions.
Throughout the year, Baiyun established two human resource service agencies and added four employment trainee centers.
In terms of development in education, Baiyun advanced the roll-out of 47 education projects and added 4,670 public education positions in 2021.
Meanwhile, the preschool education public service rate in Baiyun increased from 50.32 percent in 2020 to 58.04 percent in 2021.
To provide convenient and high-quality medical services for local residents, Baiyun established the Chengshi Medical Group, promoted the expansion of public hospitals and evenly balanced the roll-out of medical resources. It also further promoted "internet + medical" big data application formats.
Last year, the main section of the Baiyun District Maternal and Child Health Hospital project was completed, while the Baiyun District People's Hospital (Phase I) and the Guizhou Provincial Orthopaedic Hospital were completed and started operating.
Additionally, by the end of 2021, all eligible special groups in Baiyun had joined the social security system.
Also last year, the number of people who participated in unemployment insurance and work-related injury insurance reached 49,000 and 120,000, respectively.
Moreover, more than 95 percent of residents under Baiyun's jurisdiction are now said to be covered by medical insurance.
