After one new COVID-19 case was reported on March 29 in Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – both the city and the nearby Guian New Area immediately launched strict and tighter pandemic prevention and control methods.

Guiyang's municipal public security, disease control and big data departments cooperated closely to screen people related to the case. So far, all the people who had close contact with the case are under 14-day centralized quarantine and will receive another 14 days of health monitoring at home, as well as 12 nucleic acid tests.

Those who have had indirect contact with confirmed COVID-19 cases will be sent to designated quarantine hotels and receive three nucleic acid tests in seven days.

Those who have come to Guiyang from middle and high-risk areas will be quarantined for 14 days, receive another 14 days of health monitoring at home and undergo 12 nucleic acid tests.

Those from cities with locally transmitted COVID-19 infection cases, or low-risk areas from cities with middle and high-risk areas, will be asked to stay at home or quarantine in hotels and receive three nucleic acid tests in five days.

Guiyang requires all the people in crowded areas such as airports, bus stations, railway stations, shopping malls, supermarkets and hotels to wear masks. They must measure body temperatures, show health and travel codes and observe 1-meter social distance from each other.
