A meeting on treating the water environment of the Maijia River Basin was held in Baiyun district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on April 5.
Baiyun plans to improve the river basin by adhering to the concept that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets."
Plans are for Baiyun to inspect the sewage treatment and discharge of business and industrial operators along the river and construct and upgrade the sewage pipe networks.
A monitoring system using intelligent and precise monitoring equipment will also be established.
For identified pollution problems in the river basin, corrective measures will be formulated as soon as possible.
Baiyun will also strengthen law enforcement and severely crack down on prominent environmental problems and environmental violations.
In addition, a regular river inspection and cleaning system will be established to comprehensively improve river management and protection.
