Industry transformation, upgrading boost development in Baiyun

Baiyun district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been developing its real economy and optimizing its industrial structure as it embarks on a journey toward rapid growth.

The industrial structure of Baiyun district has changed from being dominated by the aluminum industry to the coordinated development of modern urban industries.

The transformation of Baiyun's manufacturing sector has been accelerated.

Production lines belonging to Guiyang Geely Engine Co and Chengli Aviation Technology (Guiyang) Co have been built and put into operation.

Construction has begun on a number of electronic information projects, such as the Liando U Valley project and the Jucheng 5G project.

Currently, the total output value of industrial strategic emerging industries in Baiyun accounts for more than 20 percent of the district's total industrial output value and is higher than the city average.

Meanwhile, Baiyun has implemented 38 pilot demonstration projects focusing on intelligent manufacturing and cultivated 19 "Internet +" demonstration enterprises.

In addition, large-scale commercial complexes, including Yuntai Plaza and Wanda Plaza, have been put into operation or are under construction.

The big data industry has continued to expand in scale, with more than 350 enterprises setting up operations in the Guiyang Software Park in Baiyun district.

Moreover, Baiyun was approved to become an "all-for-one" tourism demonstration zone and was ranked among "China's Top 100 Districts with Strong Tourism Development Potential".

Additionally, Baiyun has seen strong results in developing its agricultural industry, which revolves around the growing of edible mushrooms.

In the past five years, Baiyun has planted a total of 240 million sticks of edible mushrooms, with an output value of 1.64 billion yuan ($246.06 million).

It has also cultivated one national-level leading enterprise, five provincial-level leading enterprises, and seven municipal-level leading enterprises focusing on mushroom planting, processing and marketing.
