Baiyun district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, made significant economic achievements in 2021.
Statistics from the Baiyun district government show that in 2021, Baiyun district's GDP hit 25.98 billion yuan ($3.90 billion), an increase of 7.0 percent over the same period in the previous year.
The added value of the primary industry was 831 million yuan, an increase of 7.4 percent year-on-year; the added value of the secondary industry came in at 13.33 billion yuan, an increase of 8.7 percent; and the added value of the tertiary industry was 11.82 billion yuan, an increase of 5.2 percent.
The added value of the primary, secondary and tertiary industries accounted for 3.2 percent, 51.3 percent and 45.5 percent of GDP, respectively.
The proportion of the secondary industry increased by 1.5 percentage points and the proportion of the tertiary industry dropped by 1.5 percentage points from 2020.
Baiyun also performed strongly in the agricultural sector, and the added value of its planting industry reached 1.41 billion yuan in 2021, an increase of 9 percent over the previous year.
During the same period, the added value of forestry was 17 million yuan, an increase of 5.3 percent; that of animal husbandry was 52 million yuan, down 16.9 percent; and that of the fishery industry was 2 million yuan, an increase of 11.3 percent year-on-year.
In the manufacturing and building industries, Baiyun had a total of 153 industrial enterprises above designated size by the end of last year, 10 more than at the end of the previous year.
The added value of industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 16.3 percent over the previous year. Specifically, the added value of the light and heavy industries increased by 14.8 percent and 16.7 percent, respectively.
The added value of State-owned enterprises in the jurisdiction of Baiyun increased 31.2 percent year-on-year; the added value of joint-stock enterprises increased 19.4 percent; and the added value of foreign-invested and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan-invested enterprises increased 9.4 percent.
