An agricultural and sideline product distribution center called the Baiyun Gongxiang Agricultural Innovation City was recently recognized as a demonstration base for migrant workers starting a business in Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – making it the first such place in the city's Baiyun district.

A demonstration base for migrant workers starting a business refers to an entity which can provide the site and management services required for production and gainful operations for returning migrant workers, whose households are registered in Guizhou province and who are within working age.

A demonstration base can obtain a one-off subsidy of 200,000 yuan ($28,115) from the Guiyang human resources and social security bureau once it is recognized.

The newly-recognized Baiyun base is located in Shawen town in Baiyun district. It is a one-stop agricultural and sideline product distribution center funded and constructed by Baiyun Chengtou Group, with an area of 150,000 square meters.

It is involved in more than 3,000 kinds of business in 10 categories – including seafood, frozen products, vegetables, mushrooms, meat, eggs and poultry, grain and oil.

Since its opening in January, the scale of its market transactions has steadily increased, providing products for government departments, schools, restaurants and community farmers' markets.

Moreover, it is understood to have also further stimulated the vitality of commerce and trade in Shawen town.
