Baiyun district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, will carry out eight projects to improve the district's scientific and technological innovation.
According to the plan, measures will be taken to accelerate the commercialization of R&D achievements, cultivate high-tech enterprises, improve R&D levels, introduce more science and technology talent, and strengthen the construction of technology innovation platforms.
By the end of 2025, the number of high-tech enterprises in Baiyun is estimated to exceed 110.
The annual R&D investment of Baiyun will account for 2.8 percent of its GDP; around 70 percent of industrial enterprises above designated size in Baiyun's jurisdiction will carry out R&D activities; and more than five innovative R&D platforms at the provincial level and above will be cultivated.
By 2025, Baiyun is anticipated to have 28 high-tech enterprises above designated size, while the total number of entrepreneurship and innovation incubators in the district is expected to exceed 10.
Another 1,200 new 5G base stations will be constructed to achieve full 5G coverage in Baiyun's urban and rural areas.
Also, another 50 new application scenarios for the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements will be added, the number of scientific researchers is expected to exceed 2,200, and the total number of talent working in Baiyun is expected to be more than 150,000.
In addition, Baiyun will implement the green and low-carbon transformation of the industry. Technical research and engineering application will be widely used in such fields as the protection of water sources, the prevention and control of heavy metal pollution in soil, and carbon capture, utilization and storage.
