Adhering to the concept that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets," Baiyun district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has made great environmental achievements.

Over the past five years, Baiyun built 83 ecological parks and its forest coverage rate reached 46.18 percent.

The proportion of days with "good" or "excellent" air quality in Baiyun during the period was 97.5 percent on average.

Meanwhile, the district has seen remarkable results in controlling pollution.

Baiyun solved 74 environmental protection problems reported by the central government's and provincial inspectors. It also built three sewage treatment plants.

The daily treatment capacity of urban domestic sewage in Baiyun has increased to 150,000 metric tons, and its sewage treatment rate has reached 98.5 percent.

Green water and green mountains have gradually become more numerous.

Moving forward, Baiyun plans to build an ecological barrier out of Changpolin Forest Park, Baihua Mountain, Dianshan Mountain and Yunwu Mountain.

Measures to fight against pollution will be taken in a bid to ensure that the rate proportion of days with "good" or "excellent" air quality remains stable at over 97.5 percent, the water quality compliance rate of centralized drinking water sources is 100 percent, and the forest coverage rate is maintained at over 46.18 percent.
