Baiyun tourism market spikes during Spring Festival holiday

The tourism market of Baiyun district in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, saw a sharp increase during the 2023 Spring Festival holiday, which took place from Jan 21 to 27.

Over a seven-day holiday period, a total of 144,400 tourist visits were made to Baiyun district, a year-on-year increase of 43.57 percent.

The comprehensive tourism revenue generated during this period reached 74.71 million yuan ($11.15 million), representing an increase of 46.27 percent compared with the same period last year.

The tourism influx was mainly concentrated in the district's two 4A-level scenic spots: the Quanhu Scenic Spot and the Penglai Fairyland Scenic Spot. Other tourist locations such as Fanhuali, Xiputuo Temple, and Guiyang Happy World also saw a rise in numbers.

Penglai Fairyland's lantern show received a total of 102,000 tourist visits, and the ticket revenue for the lantern show reached 998,400 yuan. Meanwhile, 44,895 visitors came to the Quanhu Scenic Spot, which reported the sales revenue of merchants totaling at 1.36 million yuan.
