Planting edible mushrooms has played an essential role in boosting rural vitalization in Baiyun district in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

Information from the district shows that in 2022, Baiyun planted a total of 46.17 million edible mushrooms. This is 2.59 percent higher than its annual goal, which was set at the beginning of that year.

It is reported that the total amount of mushrooms planted is equivalent to 25,700 metric tons.

In 2022, Baiyun added another 620-mu area for farming edible mushrooms in Duxi forest farm, Shawen Duimen Mountain and Niuchang township.

The mushroom varieties that Baiyun district cultivates are mainly shiitake mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, morels, red bamboo fungus, red matsutake, winter fungus and tea tree mushrooms.
