Baiyun improves people's livelihoods in 2022

The actions taken by Baiyun district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, to improve people's livelihoods led to strong results.

Improvements were made in such areas as employment, education, elderly care, transportation, medical care and social security.

Statistics from the district show that in 2022, a total of 11,263 people found employment in Baiyun, and 10,285 new urban jobs were created.

Last year, 10 primary and secondary kindergartens were built, rebuilt or expanded in Baiyun, while enrollment capacity was increased by 3,000 students.

Meanwhile, Baiyun continued to deepen reforms to the medical system.

A number of high-quality medical institutions, such as the Guizhou hospital of the Beijing Jishuitan Hospital and the comprehensive inpatient building of the Baiyun District People's Hospital, were completed and put into use.

A total of 13 community health service centers were rebuilt or expanded, and the number of infant care service institutions for those under 3 years old was increased to 29.

Baiyun also achieved full coverage of epidemic relief for key social assistance recipients. The amount given in subsidies to people in need was raised to 725 yuan ($108.21) per person each month.

Additionally, six parking lots and two farmer's markets were built in Baiyun in 2022.

Baiyun also renovated 4,445 households in old communities, 2,455 households in shantytowns, and 30 back streets and alleys, and built 539 5G base stations.
