Baiyun achieves economic and social development results

In 2022, the economic and social development of Baiyun district in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, achieved remarkable results.

The district's total output value for industries above designated size hit 18.91 billion yuan ($2.82 billion), 638,000 square meters of new standard factory buildings were built, and 15 new enterprises were newly registered that year.

Baiyun's agricultural industry achieved new breakthroughs in development. It had a grain planting area of 21,300 mu (1,420 hectares), planted over 44 million sticks of edible mushrooms, and had a 43,700-mu area for planting vegetables. 

The total agricultural output value in Baiyun in 2022 reached 1.14 billion yuan, with a growth rate of 4.2 percent.

In 2022, Baiyun implemented a new style of urbanization, which focuses on people, making the district more livable.

Last year, the permanent population of Baiyun increased to 482,700, while the urbanization rate of the district reached 91.71 percent. It also currently has 42 square kilometers of fully-developed urban areas.

Over the last year, 17.9 km of Baiyun's water supply pipe network, 20.24 km of its rainwater network, and 20.67 km of its sewage network were completed and renovated. In addition, the district built another 1,070 housing rental units and resettlement housing units covering 216,800 sq m.

The district bettered its environment by adding 170,000 sq m of urban green space last year. In addition, the water quality compliance rate of centralized drinking water sources in Baiyun reached 100 percent, it had a 98.6 percent good air quality rating, and its forest coverage rate hit 46.18 percent.

In 2022, Baiyun completed the construction of six parking lots, 2,040 parking spaces, and two agricultural supermarkets. It also finished the renovation of 4,445 households in old communities, 2,455 households in shanty towns, and 30 back streets and alleys.

Last year, 11,263 people were employed in urban and rural areas of Baiyun, and 10,285 new urban jobs were created.
