Baiyun district in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, will implement green consumption measures to continuously improve its green consumption index and optimize its green consumption system, according to local media reports.

According to its development plan, the district is set to develop itself into a national ecological civilization construction demonstration zone by 2025. However, its more immediate goal is to develop itself into a provincial-level ecological civilization construction demonstration area within the current year.

The district will implement green consumption promotion projects. It will expand the supply of green products; encourage enterprises to actively participate in the certification of green and low-carbon product standards; unblock the sales and supply channels of green products; promote green packaging; and strengthen the consumption management of plastic products.

By the end of 2023, the sales of major green products will account for more than 20 percent of the district's total, its e-commerce retail sales will reach 600 million yuan ($87.69 million), and the proportion of green products purchased by the government will reach more than 83 percent.

The district's green logistics promotion project will be implemented. Baiyun is to promote key projects, such as Guiyang International Land Port and Guiyang Shared Agricultural Innovation City, as well as support the intelligent and digital transformation of logistics enterprises.

Efforts will also be made in rationally arranging node facilities, such as a large-scale comprehensive logistics center at the first level, a professional distribution center at the second level, a distribution center at the third level, and terminal outlets at the fourth level.
