Baiyun to hold 4th ICH Penglai Local Opera Art Festival

The 2025 Celebration for the Sixth Day of the Sixth Lunar Month and the 4th Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) Penglai Local Opera Art Festival will take place on June 30 at the ICH Cultural Square in Penglai village, Niuchang township, Baiyun district.

Morning activities will include the grand opening ceremony, an ethnic unity parade, and a traditional blessing ceremony. The blessing ceremony will feature traditional rituals and the unveiling ceremony of the local opera performance, Yang Jia Jiang. Through traditional blessings and prayers, wishes for national prosperity, peace, and abundant harvests will be made.

In the afternoon, participants can enjoy ethnic food-making experiences, including making zongzi (sticky rice dumplings), pounding ciba (glutinous rice cakes), and participating in tofu-making activities. A folk song competition, a long table feast, and a grand ethnic bonfire evening party will also be held.
