Reed-filled escapes to experience Guiyang's autumn beauty

Updated: 2026-11-06

Autumn is in the air, and the reed flowers are in bloom. A scene straight out of The Book of Songs, China's oldest poetry collection, is unfolding across Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area. Its famous line "Jian Jia Cang Cang" evokes vast reed beds shrouded in autumn mist. Now, you can experience this timeless poetic beauty at four scenic spots across the region.

Shilihetan Wetland Park

Autumn bathes Shilihetan Wetland Park in a soft, golden glow. Reeds sway gently in the breeze, their feathery white plumes drifting above the wetlands. The landscape is understated yet beautiful, with a quiet charm that captures the season's essence.

Yuelianghu Park

At Yuelianghu Park, lakeside reeds spread out beneath the surrounding hills, their fluffy plumes resembling clouds floating in the breeze. As the wind sweeps across the reed beds, ripples shimmer on the water, creating a peaceful scene straight out of an autumn dream.

Jianzipo, Gaopo township

For a wilder autumn landscape, the rolling hills of Jianzipo in Gaopo township are hard to beat. Golden reeds sway against a backdrop of distant mountains and open skies. Sunlight filters through the clouds, painting the hillsides in warm gold and casting layers of light and shadow across the landscape.

Taiyanghu Binhe Park

A tranquil natural retreat tucked into the city, Taiyanghu Binhe Park is lined with tall reeds and colorful trees. The riverside path offers a leisurely walk through changing autumn colors, with plenty of quiet corners to pause, unwind, and take in the scenery.

With the weekend approaching, these four escapes offer a chance to experience autumn's romance firsthand, where ancient poetry meets the beauty of the natural world.
